Far better is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by aromas of black currants, cedar, smoke, earth and spice in this rich, authoritative, full-bodied Napa Cabernet. Consume it over the next 10-12+ years. The 80% new oak on this wine really sticks out, giving toasty, caramelized and vanilla bean notes. That makes the underlying cherry, blackberry and raspberry fruit, which is superripe, taste jammy, almost sweet. The outstanding 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve has more blackberry, blueberry, espresso, and chocolate notes, with hints of licorice, and again, spring flowers.
