The 2006 CABERNET SAUVIGNON RESERVE is made from a blend of regions, 85% Ella Valley, and the rest from the winery’s upper Galilee and Shiloh vineyards. Aged for 18 months in French oak, it nonetheless seems beautifully balanced and elegant, with the fruit ascendant rather than the oak, and a bright, flavorful and succulent finish. The wine is marked significantly by herbaceous notes, which may not be to everyone’s taste. Green is not my style, to be sure, but, granting that there is not much mid-palate depth, this wine’s graceful demeanor and intense finish will win it some fans. There were 13,000 bottles produced.
