This is the top-shelf wine from Tenuta degli Dei. A blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 35% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cavalli is a lovely Tuscan red with a rich and velvety texture that is never heavy or too dense. In fact, it offers an open-knit consistency with plenty of dark fruit, spice, grilled herb and wild rose. Oak tones of cedar and cinnamon frame that dark core. I tasted bottle number 15,014 of 15,804 produced. This wine is a joy to drink.

The Tenuta degli Dei 2017 Cavalli sees a base of Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot and is a terrific dinner wine. It is polished and deep with some of the fruit nuances you can expect of this vintage. However, the overall effect is balanced and smooth with plenty of fruity power, weight and length. Production is about 16,000 bottles.

From the wine-fashion-horse father-and-son team of Tommaso and Roberto Cavalli, the 2015 Cavalli is a lusty blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 35% Petit Verdot. This is the estate's top-shelf wine. It is aged in a combination of barrique and tonneaux for 18 months. Cavalli reveals a dark and luscious fruit profile with plenty of dark blackberry, Morello cherry and plum to bring the wine through its aging evolution. You get lots of primary intensity over a mid-weight palate that ends with a blast of very crisp acidity.

Aged in oak for 18 months, the 2014 Cavalli is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller parts Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. This is a darkly extracted and contemporary wine that delivers ample muscle and power despite the cooler and rainy growing season. In appearance, this blended red reveals a deep ruby color with purplish highlights. The fruit is immediate and intense with cherry liqueur and blackberry preserves. Like the other wines from the current Tenuta degli Dei lineup, this wine sports a raw and fresh personality (with less intensity and density compared to some of the warmer vintages that precede this one).
