The 2011 Guazza (Vermentino) is an attractive white laced with pears, apples, jasmine, mint and spices. It shows good energy in a style that captures the ripeness of the year while maintaining a good sense of energy. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2014.
Poggio Argentiera has moved away from the rich, powerful wines of the past towards a much more laid back, delicate, feminine style. The new approach at Poggio Argentiera shows promise, but changes this radical usually take a few years to fully execute, so this crop of current releases should be viewed as works in progress.
