The 2017 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone has a pale to medium ruby color and nose of spiced cranberry sauce, stewed rhubarb, pepper, black berries, forest floor and tobacco leaf. Medium-bodied and silky with concentrated earthy fruits, it has grainy tannins and great juicy freshness, finishing long and earthy.

The 2016 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone reveals an attractive bouquet of smoky raspberries, blood orange, spice, undergrowth and plum preserve, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate that's quite supple and expansive, balanced by juicy acids and concluding with a sappy, delicately tannic finish.

Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone gives a nose of red currants and black cherries with suggestions of damp soil, charcoal and forest floor. The palate has a great structure of firm, ripe, fine-grained tannins and lively acid supporting the muscular black and red fruits, finishing long and earthy.

Cassis, spicy oak, dried flowers, sappy herbs and licorice all emerge from the 2014 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone, which is medium to full-bodied, pure, concentrated and rich, with a supple, polished, textured style on the palate. It's a terrific wine and should drink well for 4-6 years. Brought up in 50% new French oak, it shows the slightly darker, earthier style of the Pommard Clone.

I loved the 2013 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone and it comes from Ashley's Vineyard as well, all from Pommard Clones, which generally give a darker, more Burgundian expression. In this case though, it gives up more strawberry, sweet spice and tons of floral characteristics to go with medium-bodied richness, beautiful sweetness of fruit and a layered, balanced texture. Seeing 17 months in 50% new French oak, it's a beauty to drink over the coming 3-5 years.
