This 2015 Isabella Rose Methode Traditionnelle is savory and toasty and rich—there are layers of brine and fruit and exotic spice here that make for very interesting, complex drinking. It's a blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay and spent a minimum of 60 months on yeast lees. The wine improves after a little time in the glass; it's like after being cooped up on the lees for so long, it needs the chance to stretch its legs—and stretch it does. This is savory and almost sinewy—positive—and has dried rose petals, summer strawberry, cheesecloth, bruised red apple, beeswax and pecorino. All good things.

A 60-40 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the 2014 Isabella Rose Methode Traditionnelle is more brassy than true rosé, although there is a sort of coppery-pink tinge. It's medium-bodied, round and soft—like many of the sparkling wines here, it underwent full malolactic fermentation—with attractive hints of brioche, strawberries and citrus and a clean, refreshing finish.
