The 2006 Urlo bursts from the glass with dark fruit and a rich, super-concentrated personality. Why a historic estate in Tuscany makes a wine so devoid of any linkage to the virtues of this unique region is beyond me, but the simple fact is that the Urlo tastes like a wine that could have been made anywhere. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014. Admittedly, I was very disappointed with the wines I tasted from Ruffino this year. The estate’s search for ripeness and opulence has yielded wines that as a group increasingly lack any real character.Importer: Icon Estates, St. Helena, CA; tel. (707) 963-7111
