This winery has proven to be a consistent performer with respect to its non-reserve cuvees, which I prefer to their more ambitiously styled, as well as more expensive cuvees of Chardonnay and Syrah. The 1989 Syrah is also immensely impressive. Moreover, it will last for up to a decade. In fact, there is enough tannin to suggest it should be laid away in the cellar for several years. With its deep ruby/purple color, big, spicy, peppery, berry-scented nose, full-bodied, rich, concentrated flavors, and moderate tannins, this is an impressive bottle of vividly well-focused, rich, full-bodied, yet elegant Syrah for drinking over the rest of the decade.
