A blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot, the 2011 Halycon Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot is scented of fresh blackcurrant and red currants with nuances of thyme and violets. A lighter to medium-bodied style though lacking a bit in mid-palate weight, it has some pleasant vibrancy of red and black fruit flavor accented by a refreshing acid line and low to medium levels of slightly astringent tannins. Medium-bodied, crisp with medium-firm fine tannins, it has pleasant dried herb notes coming through in the long finish. Good now, it should keep to 2015+.
