The 2013 9 Barricas is a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano and was produced with as little intervention as possible. The two grapes fermented separately, followed by malolactic in barrel where the wine was kept for nine months with lees, which were periodically stirred; it was then blended and put into barrique to complete its élevage of 18 months in total. I found some dark aromas of licorice, ink and tempera paint with hints of leather and an animal whiff. The palate revealed a powdery texture and a dry finish. 2,500 bottles were filled in May 2017.
