Interesting aromas of cherry, mushrooms, raw meat, flowers and metal shavings. Very complex. Full-bodied with a tight and compacted palate, medium round tannins and a pretty finish. Lots going on here. Back in line with the excellent 2016. Best after 2027.

The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino opens to a powerful bouquet that is equally characterized by dark fruit and sweet spice. The oak (the wine ages for three years in large oak casks made with Slavonian oak) needs more time to integrate for sure. Tasted at this young stage, this Brunello displays lots of primary intensity with cinnamon, clove and candied almond. Savory notes of tobacco, ash and smoked bacon appear at the back.

The Querce Bettina 2012 Brunello di Montalcino is a robust and full-bodied expression of Sangiovese. The bouquet exhibits thick layers of ripe cherry fruit, spice, pipe tobacco and campfire smoke. Likewise, the mouthfeel is richly textured and expansive in approach. The wine wraps thickly over the palate, imparting dark fruit flavors along the way. Only 5,350 bottles were produced.
