Prieler’s pure 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon – harvested October 17 – smells of cassis and humus; offers impressive density, depth, and seamlessness of fruit, with low-toned woodsy, toasted nut notes; and finishes with hints of black olive and black pepper, all in all richer and more interesting than one expects of this wine. The quality of 2006 for Burgenland’s premier red variety fully merited the late bottling practiced by Prielers, with the result that I have still not tasted from bottle three that were still in cask until last September.Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel.
