This wine is even more oaky than the Porta Reserve. From my vantage point, Porta’s Chardonnays benefit from the school of less is more. This one is dominated by wood and wood spice, much more so than its brothers. There’s also some vanilla in the mix, but it tastes artificial. ——M.S.(7/1/2002)—— 82
