This is spiced and racy with dried red berries, dried herbs, bark and hints of wet stones. Full-bodied, firm and a little chewy with chalky tannins, hints of citrus peel and bitter spices at the end. Try after 2025.

The 2015 vintage is very distinctive across Barbaresco, thanks to its ripe, almost sweet fruit flavors. You definitely get them in the 2015 Barbaresco San Cristoforo. The wine emits thick aromas of cherry liqueur, dried blackberry and dark plum. It sports a deep garnet color with good intensity (Nebbiolo tends to lose color in hot vintages like this). The wine is very delicate in terms of texture, with soft tannins that barely grace the palate. Some 8,000 bottles were made.

The 2013 Barbaresco San Cristoforo is not totally aligned in terms of its aromas. There are prominent balsamic notes with some green medicinal or menthol herb. The fruit underperforms, showing fine and subtle notes of cassis and wild berry. The wine feels shy and closed.
