Here's a slightly aged expression of one of Italy's most versatile white grapes. The 2019 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Riserva Giatl offers soft peach, Golden Delicious apple and preserved lemon. There are distant hints of vanilla, saffron and toasted almond. The medium-bodied mouthfeel is creamy and nicely textured, with a hint of bright acidity on the close. With 10,000 bottles made, this is one of the only Riserva expressions of Pinot Grigio that I know of.

This one's all peaches and cream, as they say in the South. The 2018 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Riserva Giatl brings big soft intensity and lots of plush fruit. Peach, poached pear and passion fruit explode from the bouquet in an expression that affords lots of nice richness. The oak fermentation at nearly room temperature results here in a soft and integrated white to enjoy with a shrimp étouffée. Some 10,000 bottles were made.

The 2017 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Riserva Giatl is a step above any Grigio you may have encountered recently. The wine offers pure aromas of peach, poached apple and light citrus. The vintage heat has added to the thickness and richness of the wine—and to its silky dense texture. Pair it with spicy Indian or Thai dishes. Some 10,000 bottles were made.

The oak-aged 2016 Alto Adige Pinot Grigio Riserva Giatl is a medium to full-bodied white wine with nuances of summer peach, Golden Delicious apple and lemon mousse. That chorus of yellow fruit flavors is really very beautiful. The wine wraps thickly over the palate with a rich texture and creamy disposition followed by breezy acidity. Some 11,000 bottles were produced.
