The 2007 Rubbio is a fresh, vinous wine loaded with expressive floral aromatics and a generous, fat core of black cherries. This pleasing, inviting red is best enjoyed in its vinous youth. The estate’s 2006 Rubbio is mostly Sangiovese with the addition of several indigenous varieties aged in steel. It is a fresh, vinous red with fresh berry fruit and an accessible personality which is best enjoyed over the next year or two. The 2001 Rubbio was a good effort as well as a very good value. It exhibits notes of sweet and sour cherry fruit intermixed with earth, leather, and spice along with hints of herbs and underbrush.
