The 2008 Malbec Stillwater Creek Vineyard is a fine example of this varietal made famous in Mendoza, Argentina. Wood smoke, cinnamon, clove, underbrush, and black cherry aromas inform the nose of an elegant, spicy, nicely proportioned wine. With excellent concentration and depth, this tasty Malbec has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will deliver enjoyment through 2020. I would love to place it in a blind tasting of similarly priced Malbecs from Argentina. Novelty Hill and Stillwater Creek Vineyard are owned by Tom Alberg. The vineyard, located on the Royal Slope of the Frenchman Hills (way off the beaten path), was planted in 2000 and has acquired a reputation for the high quality of its fruit.Tel.
