Delineated and sharp, the 2015 Sannio Sant’Agata dei Goti Greco is lightweight and crisp. This is a luminous and bright white wine that keeps the palate refreshed and imparts no heaviness or fattiness along the way. In fact, it hits the palate with silky determination and a quick, fleeting approach that adds to its easy-drinking and immediate appeal. This is an informal and well-priced Greco from Southern Italy.

The 2014 Sannio Sant’Agata dei Goti Greco is my favorite offering from Mustilli this year. I love the simple freshness and brightness that is put on such confident display. Pear, white peach, Golden Delicious apple and dusty mineral converge on the bouquet. The effect is one of definition and focus. Greco grapes come from 25-year-old vines planted 300 meters above sea level in clay and limestone soils that are rich in organic material. The wine is vinified in steel and sees brief lees contact.
