Mormoraia's 2011 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Riserva shows enormous minerality and a sensational sense of sharpness and clarity. Fruit nuances of citrus, peach and nectarine are followed by equally intense layers of wild sage, saffron and crushed almond. The wine reveals brilliant luminosity and a limpid, transparent appearance with golden rays of color. The themes developed by this Vernaccia are brightness and clarity as applied to both appearance and flavor.
