Assembled from barrel for this tasting, the 2021 Chardonnay Ma Princesse is a standout this vintage, being plump and succulent, with pear, melon and citrus shadings. It's medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated yet shows tremendous length and elegance on the finish.

Sourced from the Ritchie Vineyard and barrel fermented in one-third new French oak, the 2020 Chardonnay Ma Princesse is a beauty, featuring intriguing scents of pencil shavings, crushed stone, pineapple and lemon. It's medium to full-bodied but nicely delineated and crisp, with a zesty, lingering finish.

Ma Princesse comes from the Ritchie vineyard in Russian River, planted to Old Wente clone selection, from vines that are 50+ years old. A barrel sample to be bottled in February 2021, the 2019 Chardonnay Ma Princesse needs a little swirling to unlock gorgeous scents of lemon meringue pie, lime cordial and honeydew melon with wafts of toasted almonds, brioche and nutmeg. The medium to full-bodied palate has a decadent oiliness to the texture with just enough freshness to lift the ripe, rich melon and toast flavors with a long finish. 400 cases are due to be made.

The 2018 Chardonnay Ma Princesse rolls flamboyantly from the glass with seductive scents of ripe apricots, fresh pineapple, mandarin peel and honeysuckle, leading to suggestions of candied ginger, beeswax and coriander seed. The medium to full-bodied palate is decadently laden with tropical and stone fruit flavors with a creamy texture and seamless freshness, finishing long and layered. 375 cases were made.

Ma Princesse comes from the Richie vineyard in Russian River, planted to Old Wente clone selection, from vines that are 50+ years old. The 2017 Chardonnay Ma Princesse is a little reticent to begin, opening slowly with delicate notes of lemon meringue pie, white peaches and lime leaves plus emerging nuances of wet slate, paraffin wax, struck flint and croissant with a waft of praline. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is tightly wound and packed with taut citrus and mineral layers, framed by fantastic freshness and a satiny texture, finishing wonderfully tangy. 350 cases were made.
