The vineyard is far better known for powerful, concentrated Pinot Noir, and this Chardonnay shares those characteristics. It’s a big, fruity wine, not showing much finesse, but plenty of sheer magnitude. Brims with tropical fruit, apple, exotic spice and oak flavors that finish dry. I liked Morgan’s Double L Chard for its Chablis-like character. This wine is more so. It’s drier, more acidic and more elegant, but there’s nothing lean about the power of its core of tropical fruit, which detonates on the palate and doesn’t stop. There’s fascination with every sip, as the wine slowly changes in the glass. This is a great wine and showcases the infinite possibilities of this appellation. — (4/1/2006) —95

You can smell the minerals in this tight, compelling wine. It has an aroma suggesting cold metal, even a touch of diesel, floating above the guava, pineapple, nectarine and peach flavors. Smoky oak and zesty acidity help make this Chard very complex and satisfying. — (12/15/2005) —91
