The 1998 Cote Rotie Cuvee Classique, a blend of 70% Cote Blonde and 30% Cote Brune grapes, is a gorgeously elegant, nicely-textured, complex effort. The dark ruby color reveals purple nuances. The cappuccino, black raspberry, and cassis aromas display a subtle influence of wood (about 20% new oak casks are used). The wine's crisp acidity gives it vibrancy and lift. There is moderate tannin in the finish. This is one 1998 that will require 3-5 years of cellaring; it will keep for 15.Importer: Robert Kacher Selections, Washington, DC; tel. (202) 832-9083
