Deep garnet-purple, the 2010 Saperavi (a vine originating from Georgia, planted in 2001) spent 10 months in seasoned oak. It offers intense notes of warm plums and blackberries with a very spicy undercurrent of cinnamon and cloves plus a whiff of crushed blueberries. Full-bodied and richly fruited in the mouth, it has a medium to firm level of velvety tannins, medium-high acid and a long, spiced blueberry finish. This is the first release of this very promising newcomer. Drink it now to 2017+. Importer: Epicurean Wines, Seattle, WA; tel. (206) 923-1376
