The Masciarelli 2015 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Castello di Semivicoli is a rich, sun-drenched expression of Trebbiano Abruzzese (also sometimes called Bombino Bianco) with bright aromas of poached pear, honey, saffron and dried apricot. This is a lean to mid-weight white wine that would pair with fried fish or pasta con le vongole. The aromas are bright and intense with lots of golden and yellow fruit that radiate from its core.

The Masciarelli 2014 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo Castello di Semivicoli offers a fresh and accessible interpretation of the hearty and versatile Trebbiano grape. This variety can make an easy-drinking wine, and it can also be handled in a more elaborate fashion to make an important and age-worthy white wine for the most prized lobster dish. This wine hits somewhere in the middle. It is oak-aged, so you get some extra opulence and richness, although the grape offers a good amount of that on its own. I say this despite the weakness and difficulties of this vintage. Some 12,500 bottles were made.
