As the name states, the 2009 Beaune 1er Cru 150th Anniversary Cuvee is a wine made to commemorate Jadot’s 150th Anniversary and is a blend of the estate’s best sites across the village of Beaune, including Ursules, Greves and Bressandes. I wasn’t able to taste the wine back in February when I reviewed the rest of the estate’s 2009 reds as the final blend had not yet been made. It is a stunning Burgundy laced with gorgeous inner perfume and the vibrant red fruit only Pinot can offer, all supported by the firm tannins typical of these sites. The wine possesses stunning balance and extraordinary grace from start to finish. It is simply dazzling. Quite frankly, I was blown away. US retail will be around $50, as reasonable as 2009 Burgundy of this quality can be with our feeble US dollar. There are just over 6,000 cases, which means the wine should be easy to find. Anticipated maturity: 2018-2028. Importer: Kobrand Corp., Purchase, NY; tel. (914) 253-7756
