The 1998 Coteaux du Languedoc is dark ruby-colored, and reveals aromas reminiscent of beef jerky amidst loads of sweet red fruits and cedar. This palate-staining, huge, muscular, and powerful wine is packed with tar and licorice flavors. Full-bodied, expansive, and intense, it will require some cellaring to soften. This 80% Syrah and 20% Grenache blend should be at its best between 2002-2007. Importer: Jeffrey Davies Signature Selections, West Nyack, NY; tel (845) 353-8767.
