Carillon's 2009 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Champ Canet isn't a world away from the 2009 Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet that I drank a few days later, offering up similar aromas of pastry cream, preserved lemon and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, textural and gourmand, with good balancing acids and an open-knit, friendly personality, without displaying much of the back-end mineral kick that this bottling can deliver. It's a very tasty, outgoing white Burgundy that's drinking well now.
