The 1993 Cotes du Rhone-Gold Label Reserve is made in a richer, fuller-bodied, heavier style than the 1993 Cotes du Luberon. The blend of 80% Bourboulenc and 20% Grenache gives the wine a heavier style, but it is really a question of whether readers prefer the light, crisp, floral, citrusy freshness of the Cotes du Luberon, or the fleshier, more chubby and earthy style of the Cotes du Rhone. Both wines should be drunk over the next year.La Vieille Ferme's wines have become popular in the United States, and justifiably so. Of late, the firm's finest efforts were from the 1989 and 1990 vintages. The disappointing 1991s followed (most of the production was sold in Europe). The current releases include reassuringly fine 1993 whites and 1992 reds.Importer: Vineyard Brands, Chester, VT; tel. (802) 875-2139.
