The 2015 Falanghina del Sannio I Mille per la Falanghina takes a more sophisticated approach to this easy white grape. Cryomaceration times extend to 12 hours in the absence of oxygen. The wine then finishes its fermentation in barrique with frequent batonnage. Indeed, this whole process leads to an interesting situation in which the wine initially appears reduced or closed, but then it revs up quickly to pungent yellow fruit, peach and honey aromas. Some 6,000 bottles were made.
