The 2001 Re is the first vintage to be produced of this wine, a selection of the best lots of Negro Amaro and Primitivo and it is a beauty. Almost decadently ripe on the nose, with a full panoply of ripe and resinous fruit, coconut, toasted coffee, and mocha, it combines packed, concentrated, and powerful flavors with the maximum sensuality of texture and a non-stop, palate and throat-coating finish. The best wine I have ever tasted from this part of Puglia?
