You’ll find pleasing strawberry and Bing cherry fruit, along with claret-like structure and nicely applied cinnamon and baking spice accents. This is the winery’s flagship red; in this vintage it’s 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 14% Syrah. Sturdy and structured to age, the Syrah component pops in the pepper and spice, while the Cab and Merlot give it muscle and verve. This is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 18% Syrah, done in a very tight, tannic, somewhat reductive style. It has definitely got the structure to age, and you will taste a mix of rock and barrel toast underscoring the clean, crisp, tart berry and cassis fruit.
