Heirloom's 2018 The Velvet Fog Pinot Noir was fermented as 50% whole bunches and aged in second and third-fill French oak. As a result, the stemminess is still prominent, giving a slightly herbal, floral note to the ripe strawberry-cherry fruit. It's medium-bodied and silky-textured in the mouth, the oak remaining well in the background, with an appealing freshness—almost cranberry-ish flavors—to the lingering finish. It's ready to drink now and over the next several years.
