The 2010 Cornerstone Grenache displays a pale to medium garnet color with a hint of purple and aromas of raspberry preserves, mulberries and red cherry tart over hints of orange rind, rose petals and black tea. Very full bodied, rich and voluptuous in the mouth, the spiced red berry flavors are nicely matched by very crisp acidity and a medium level of velvety tannins, finishing long. Deliciously tempting to drink now, it should give pleasure to 2018+. Importer: No Known American Importer.

The 2009 Cornerstone Grenache displays a medium-deep garnet-purple color and has a moderate intensity of warm raspberry and strawberry preserve aromas with nuances of forest floor, spice box and kirsch. Medium to full-bodied, it’s just a little ungenerous in mid-palate with very crisp acid, a low to medium level of chunky tannins and a long spicy finish. The 2007 Cornerstone Grenache sourced from a 64 year old vineyard. Medium ruby-colored, it offers up an enticing perfume of cedar, cinnamon, earth notes, and cherry. Silky on the palate with underlying structure, this lengthy effort will provide much enjoyment over the next 6-8 years. Greenock Creek’s latest collection is a bit more mixed than usual due to the more challenging nature of the vintages from which these wine were produced. The opaque purple 2006 Cornerstone Grenache, sourced from a 63-year-old vineyard, was aged in a mix of new and used French oak hogsheads. It offers up an alluring bouquet of mineral, leather, and wild cherry leading to a full-bodied (18.5% alcohol), super-rich wine with no hard edges. Opulent and pleasure-bent, it could be likened to a great vintage of Henri Bonneau Chateauneuf du Pape on steroids. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
