The 2010 Disparates de Goya Red is 100% old vine Carinena aged in new French oak for 4 months. Incense, Asian spices, plum, and black raspberry are some of the elements informing the nose of this spicy, pleasure-bent wine. This tasty effort is likely to evolve for 1-2 years but can be approached now. Grandes Vinos y Vinedos is a large cooperative in the DO of Carinena, a region which I visited in 2011. Once neglected, it is now producing numerous excellent value priced wines from the old vines that are being revitalized.
