The 2010 Mencia takes advantage of the blending and diversity of terroirs and the use of both American and French oak, which gives complexity to the end product. Mineral and balsamic, fresh and ripe, it is my favorite wine from the portfolio today. It is clean, pure and delightful to drink. Drink 2014-2018.
Godelia is a very recent winery, created in 2009 by the Garcia Rodriguez family. They own 35 hectares of vineyards, in different locations with varying altitudes and orientations. They work with white Godello and red Mencia, 30 hectares of them on trellises and the rest are head-pruned old vines. The winery has 36 stainless-steel tanks of different sizes and 250 oak barrels. The wines are made by Josep Serra who has previously worked in Priorat and has a small personal project in Montsant.
