The 2006 Langhe Nebbiolo reveals perfumed red fruits and spices on a medium-bodied frame. Its lithe, feminine personality is framed by firm, yet elegant, tannins that give the wine a beautiful sense of proportion. This stylish wine will benefit from another year or so in bottle to smooth out the tannins, yet it offers notable potential. Readers will be hard-pressed to find another Nebbiolo that offers this amount of sheer pleasure for the money. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2016.Almondo is one of Piedmont’s hidden gems. The estate is best known for its Arneis Bricco delle Ciliegie, which sadly comes in above our $25 threshold for this report. These two bottlings, though, offer plenty of pleasure.Importer: Vin Divino, Ltd., Chicago, IL; tel. (773) 334-6700
