The 2021 Chardonnay Carneros is a slightly buttery, toasty effort marked by lots of pear fruit. Barrel fermented in 34% new French oak, it's medium to full-bodied, with a rich, viscous, creamy mouthfeel, then adds bright, citrusy notes and butter again on the finish. It's very good, albeit in a certain (dated? retro?) idiom.

The 2016 Chardonnay Carneros gives up waxed lemons, ripe apples and melon notions with wafts of cedar and baker's yeast. Medium-bodied and packed with oak-kissed melon flavors, it has pleasant freshness and good length.

Plenty of exuberant fruit jumps from the glass of the 2014 Chardonnay Carneros. This wine was barrel-fermented in 34% new French oak, the rest in neutral wood, and all aged for nine months prior to bottling. It is a big, rich, exuberant style of Chardonnay - light gold in color, with nice pineapple and honeysuckle, good purity and a broad texture in the mouth without being heavy. Drink this successful wine over the next 2-4 years.

The 2013 Chardonnay reveals a more projected, intense bouquet of citrus oil and spice, medium body, good fruit and a restrained use of oak (a constant theme of Chardonnay winemaking in Napa). Consume it over the next 3-4 years.

The 2012 Chardonnay exhibits attractive notes of pineapples and orange blossoms, medium body, good acidity and a fresh, lively mouthfeel. It should drink well for 2-3 years.
