The Fontanabianca 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo gets the job done if you are looking for an informal expression of the mighty Piedmont grape that is bright and fresh all the while. This kind of wine is engineered (in terms of winemaking and pricing) to pair with comfort foods, like a classic burger and fries. It pours forth to a lean garnet color with aromas of cassis, dried cranberry and soft earth.

The Fontanabianca 2018 Langhe Nebbiolo shows a bright and tonic vibe that makes this a good choice for dinners at home with the family. The wine is open and approachable with lovely aromas of wild cherry, crushed flower and soft ferrous earth. The mouthfeel is lean and those Nebbiolo tannins are silky and satiny. Some 12,000 bottles were released.

Dusty mineral notes of crushed river stone and pencil shaving emerge first from the bouquet of the 2016 Langhe Nebbiolo. This vintage shows fantastic definition and fruit clarity, and I have been very pleased with the Langhe Nebbiolo category across this board this year. Once those mineral notes lift, you begin to sense sweet fruit, soft plum and succulent black cherry. This wine offers an excellent introduction to Nebbiolo.

This is a tight and streamlined red wine that would make a great pairing partner to pasta dishes with creamy or cheesy toppings. The 2015 Langhe Nebbiolo offers the power and structure to cut through fatty foods. It also has the natural acidity with lively primary fruit flavors. Yet, the wine is delicate and reticent all the while with finely assembled tones of blue flower and forest fruit.
