The 2005 SEXY is a very simple wine, showing some bubblegum, a candied, cloying, sweet finish, and little depth or structure. This, frankly, is little more than a well marketed party wine for uncomplicated moments. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional and Aragones. There is no importer at this time, but this would likely hit the USA under $15. Drink now-2009. This new operation, meaning “Black Ribbon,” in Portuguese, features viticulturist David Booth, who spent a year at UC Davis, among other places, and oenologist Antonio Macanita, who worked at Merryvale, Rudd and Lynch Bages. The marketing here can be deemed odd or clever, depending on your predilictions, from the inexpensive “Sexy” Tinto, to the ominous black bottles on the Preta that do not even display a vintage on the front.
