Not a pure offering. The nose has a severe case of funk and gaminess, with spice notes veering to cinnamon and red pepper flake. The palate is quite acidic, as if it were overly acidified during winemaking, and thus the flavors run toward tangy berry jam. A bouncy, tough road to cover. For the most part this is a full-bodied, full-fruited wine that has what it takes to win people over. The nose is full of cherry, plum, licorice and coconut, while the palate is bright and ripe. Quite international in style, a direct reflection of the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah components that comprise the wine. That said, this is probably the best wine Martinez Bujanda has made at its La Mancha winery; it’s plump and ripe, with nice cherry and plum flavors. It’s medium in weight and length, and juicy.
