Ferraton's 2017 Gigondas Les Murailles is a dark, meaty offering. Hinting at soy, mocha and marinated steak, it's full-bodied and creamy textured, with a spicy, savory finish. The blend is 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% Mourvèdre, with aging in a combination of tank and barrel.

Better known for its efforts in the Northern Rh?ne, Ferraton has turned out what looks to be a solid 2016 Gigondas Les Murailles, full of dark fruit, cola and spice. It's creamy and supple on the mid-palate, then firms up, turning tannic and a bit warm on the finish.
