The Feiler flagship in red, their 2006 Solitaire - comprising Blaufrankisch with Merlot and Cabernet - displays pungently smoky, spicy, lanolin, and vanillin notes of new wood, which however segue adroitly into a rich stream of ripe black and blue fruits. Hints of mint, toasted nut, and pepper add interest to an undeniably palate-staining, slightly rough finish. It will be interesting to see this get into bottle and rest for a year or so, although I have no doubts it will be capable of holding up for at least a decade. Feiler-Artinger's dry whites have generally not especially impressed me, but that is changing.Importer: Winemonger, Los Angeles, CA; www.winemonger.com
