The Erste+Neue 2020 Alto Adige Chardonnay Puntay is luscious and smooth with plenty of Golden Delicious apple, grapefruit and white peach. This fresh and lean-bodied expression is quite tonic and linear. It shows those characteristic Dolomitic mineral notes on the close. The wine ages in large oak cask for nine months (after partial malolactic fermentation), and 10,000 bottles were released.

I had not tasted this wine in a few years, so it's nice to come back and revisit it now. The Erste+Neue 2019 Alto Adige Chardonnay Puntay boasts a lean and snappy style with a quick succession of peach, citrus and mineral aromas. This is an easy-drinking Chardonnay that delivers fresh primary tones. It will be a fun pair with a chicken schnitzel and salad. After nine months in French oak botte grande, there is little in the way of distracting toast or spice. About 8,000 bottles were made.

The 2016 Alto Adige Chardonnay Puntay is a lean and stripped-down expression of the grape with preserved lemon, pear, Golden Delicious apple and distant herbal accents. This is a crisp and refreshing wine to pair with summer salads and grilled vegetables. The wine sees a brief six-month aging period with 75% of the mass in botte grande and the rest in stainless steel. Some 6,000 bottles were made.
