From east-facing parcels in Saint Joseph planted to Viognier, the 2018 Cotes du Rhone les Gendrines is one of the more exciting whites in the Gaillard stable. The granite soils are similar to Condrieu, but Viognier isn't permitted in Saint Joseph, hence the modest Cotes du Rhone appellation. It's cool, fresh and floral, with refreshing hints of mint set against a backdrop of plump, fleshy stone fruit. It's medium to full-bodied, with a long, lively finish.
