Aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, green stone fruits and marzipan introduce the 2017 Beaune 1er Cru Les Aigrots Blanc, a medium to full-bodied, racy and precise wine with a fleshy core of delicately sun-kissed fruit. This is a bright, focused Beaune that represents a fine success for de Montille.

The 2015 Beaune 1er Cru les Aigrots Blanc, which has not been commercialized since 2011 due to hail damage, has a slightly smudged bouquet of red apple, pear and toffee apple, pleasant if missing razor-sharp delineation. The palate is well balanced with a pleasant, slightly viscous texture moderated by a keen line of acidity, tropical hints towards the finish that just lacks a little length. Overall, a pretty Beaune les Aigrots, but one I would broach in its flush of youth rather than cellar.

The 2010 Beaune Les Aigrots comes across as quite big and powerful at this stage, with layers of vibrant fruit that take shape on a fleshy, generous frame. Anticipated maturity: 2014+. The 2009 Beaune Les Aigrots opens up to reveal layers of ripe apricots, peaches and flowers in a supple, forward style best suited for near-term drinking.
