Firmer and a touch less precise than the Charmes, the 2019 Santenay Les Prarons delivers notes of smoky cherries, red berries, orange rind and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and chewy, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's a hearty, rather rustic red.

Aromas of blood orange, red berries, grilled game bird and baking chocolate introduce the 2017 Santenay Les Prarons, a medium-bodied wine with a firm, structural profile that will likely flesh out by the time it's bottled.

Touching Chassagne-Montrachet on the border, the 2013 Santenay Les Prarons has more “rondeur” on the nose compared to Bachelet-Monnot’s Maranges. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly chewy entry, but there is plenty of clean and very pure fruit here and it builds toward quite a dense but corpulent finish. Very fine.
