The 2012 Mata Negra is a blend of Garnacha Tintorera, Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, grapes that must have ripened quite heavily in a dry and warm vintage in a warm and dry region. The wine was kept in French barriques for 18 months. It's a very ripe, jammy red with abundant dry tannins and a powdery, dry texture that lacks freshness. It seems to be ageing quite fast. 30,000 bottles.
