The 2011 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano shows a deep and penetrating bouquet and dark color saturation. There’s a big dollop of ripe red fruit at the start, followed by warm tones of old spice, leather and dried tobacco. Like many of the wines from this warm vintage, this expression imparts sensations of ripe fruit and dark earth. It also gives off a touch of green herb or dried dill that I found in many of the Vino Nobile wines of this vintage.

This round red exudes cherry, plum, tobacco and earth flavors, combined with a firm, fresh structure. Needs time to shed its assertive tannins. Pair with a good steak or wild boar.
