Showing a midnight-black appearance, the Cordero di Montezemolo 2020 Barbera d'Alba is syrupy and sweet with crème de cassis and sticky blackberry preserves. With fruit that absorbed the heat and sunshine of the vintage, this is a full-bodied red wine with robust fruit weight, sweet tobacco and fragrant potting soil.

Here's a nicely balanced and informal expression of one of Piedmont's favorite native grapes. The 2019 Barbera d'Alba offers blueberry and crisp blackberry measured nicely over a lean-bodied palate. The wine shows a lot of blue and purple fruits delivered with enormous freshness and simplicity. With an ample production of some 44,000 bottles, this is another quintessential Piedmont red to pair with a risotto of sausage and radicchio.
