The 2012 Collio Raiade Ribolla Gialla is named after the Friulano word for “ray of sunshine,” or raiade. This is a well-made and focused expression of the grape that allows for the true varietal characteristics to emerge thanks to its aromatic latitude. Stone fruit and melon are enhanced by playful accents of dried oregano and yellow rose. The mouth-feel is thin and easy. Drink: 2013-2014.
Conti Formentini is the Friuli estate of GIV (Gruppo Italiano Vini), Italy’s largest wine holding with nearly 20 wineries spanning the peninsula. Precise winemaking technology and large case numbers mean these wines are readily available for informal drinking occasions.
